Peleponesian war between Sparta and Athens.

 

One man sieges the moment, Philip of Macedonia. Takes controll over Nothern Aegean. Athens with Thebe tries to stop him at the battle of Chaeronea.

 

Philip won the battle. Starts to conquer and unite Greece. Says that the enemy to fight is the Persians.

 

Philip is assassinated 336 bc.

 

His son Alexander the great takes over.

                      Follows his fathers footstep.

334 Alexander led an army in Asia Minor.

 

332 he has conquered Asia minor and Egypt

 

Alexander goes East and by 326 he has taken the hole Persian kingdom.

 

323 BC he dies of Malaria?

                      Cruel, assassinated officers who didn´t oblige. Murdered a friend

 

                      Enlightened. Travelled with philosophers.

The Political Legacy:

                      His  empire was divided between his generals.

                     

                      The days of the polis was over, leagues of states instead.

 

                      Athens and Sparta lost their influence.

 

The Cultural Legacy.

                      Alexander opened up both the east and the west. He build the bridge.

 

                      Called the Hellenistic Era.
